About Jerome Front, MFT

Jerome J. Front, MFT, has a private-practice in Studio City, CA as a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, and teaches weekly Mindfulness Meditation Classes. An experienced leader of innovative workshops and retreats for more than 16 years, Jerome is a California Provider of C.E.U.s for MFTs and LCSWs. He is a year-round Adjunct Faculty member in The Graduate School of Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University. In 2000, Jerome created and annually teaches the first full-length (non-seminar) Graduate Course in the country towards Degree Credit in Clinical Psychology titled: "Mindfulness and Psychotherapy." This Course is also the first of its kind in an APA-approved Doctoral Program. In 1994, he created an experiential training for therapists utilizing mindfulness- and contemplative-based perspectives called: "The Retreat Workshop," which has been offered two times each year since then.

Jerome has been an invited speaker / retreat leader at many national clinical forums including National Institute for the Clinical Application of Behavioral Medicine (NICABM), International Psychotherapy Networker Conference and a variety of clinics and organizations on subjects that include the synthesis of Eastern and Western Psychology. Some of these groups include The Los Angeles County Psychological Association, The Southern California Medical Social Workers Group, the annual CAMFT Clinical Conference as well as the Los Angeles and San Fernando Valley chapters of CAMFT, as well as being a featured workshop leader at the 2007 UCLA "Mindfulness and Psychotherapy" international conference featuring Daniel Siegel, Jack Kornfield and Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. The focus of this work is to provide a study forum, a center for Mindfulness & Psychotherapy in the Los Angeles area and emphasize the development of essential skills and relational qualities through mindfulness-based trainings and experiential contemplative methodologies. He has published in this area, most recently as the cover story, "A Quiet Revolution: Therapists Are Finding New Ways to Be With Their Clients" in the JAN/FEB 2008 Psychotherapy Networker (see www.psychotherapynetworker.org for an article link). He leads an annual Retreat Weekend each May at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, CA., and is also an organizational mindfulness consultant on wellness to both Fortune 100 Companies and national organizations. These companies have included WellPoint/ Blue Cross for four years as well as Head Start Programs of Southern California. Education seminars have been provided on mindfulness and contemplative education at the High School Level (e.g., Burbank High School Music Camp) and at the elementary level to teachers and staff at St. Francis De Sales in Sherman Oaks, CA. (MFC30359; PCE #596)

He is currently writing two articles: including one on Contemplative Methodologies and another on Everyday Mindfulness.

Jerome has had his own meditation practice since 1989. His own extensive training and exposure to contemplative-related work includes three separate 7-day intensive professional training intensives in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) led by Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli since 1997. MBSR has served as the basis for many cutting-edge CBT protocols including Teasdale, Williams and Segal’s Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression. MBSR Jerome has attended CEU Mindfulness-focused Trainings as well as Contemplative Workshops or Retreats led by Thich Nhat Hanh, Jack Kornfield, Roger Walsh, Sylvia Boorstein, Joanna Macy, Thomas Keating, Shinzen Young, Jeffrey Ruben, Sharon Saltzberg, Hye Wol Sunim, Matthew Fox, Joan Halifax, Jim Finley, James Grotstein and others.

Our Studio City location provides a Los Angeles area center for mindfulness and psychotherapy as well as mindfulness meditation in the San Fernando Valley, and convenient access from Woodland Hills and Encino to Sherman Oaks and the Burbank / Glendale area.
